Welcome to the first of what I hope will be a new series on the blog!
My plan for these blog posts is to pick a series (or in this case, a group of books) that I need / want to re-read ahead of the next instalment. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while on the blog and I have a few ideas brewing. However, for the first round, I’m going to start with some of my favourite books of 2021.

Back in 2021, we were introduced to the Sapphic Trifecta. For those not familiar with the books, the trifecta consists of The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri, The Unbroken by C.L Clark and She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan. All 3 books feature sapphic romances, morally grey characters and bringing down empires.
I was fortunate to attend a number of events with the authors of these books at the end of May / beginning of June, hence kicking off this blog series with the Sapphic Trifecta! (I’m fairly sure those events were a sign to re-read the books again…)
My plan is to re-read the first book ahead of the sequel, so with that in mind, the order I’ll read the books in will be:
- The Jasmine Throne – The Oleander Sword is out in August and I have an arc that I’m very eager to read!
- The Unbroken – as far as I know, The Faithless is out in 2023 (not sure when though). Therefore, I will be aiming to re-read this at the beginning of 2023 at some point
- She Who Became the Sun – I have a feeling book 2 will be out next year, but again, the exact release date is still be be confirmed. This will probably be the last one I re-read.
At the moment, the reviews for these books will be very spaced out and dependent on release dates. Spacing them out does make my schedule a bit easier, but I also know that once I’ve started my re-reads I will probably want to continue and read them all around the same time.
Whatever my posting schedule ends up being, I am very excited to dive back into these books. I really enjoyed them the first time round and I can’t wait to rediscover these worlds. I’m also intrigued to see what I might have missed when I read them last year – I feel like the trifecta are books that warrant a re-read, given how intricate the stories are.
So, that’s my plan for this blog series! If you are planning on reading the Sapphic Trifecta, let me know in the comments!
I’ve had all of these books on my TBR, but had no idea the sapphic trifecta existed! Sapphic reads with morally grey characters do have my heart, so hopefully I get to read them soon. This is a great series and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
